I had plans today. It's my day off and I had decided that I was going to sit in my backyard in the nice cool autumnal weather and knit and just appreciate the changing season.
After 5 minutes of almost-noon glare from the sun, a rapidly rising outdoor temperature and being bitten on my ankles by bugs, I gave up. I'm hiding indoors with the AC. I'm going to try again in November...
(In my head, I am Nature Girl, but in reality I am TV girl. )
So as I now have a few moments, I thought there should be a brief update. And by update I mean share my finished socks with y'all.
Yes. They are a plain knit from the top sock with a decent nylon wool blend. Not exciting.
The one sock is slightly smaller than the other. This irritates me because it's my own fault and is proof that Denial is not just a river in Egypt. (One of my Dad's favourite jokes.) But otherwise they fit perfectly and they are dense and hard wearing.
They were immediately followed by my casting on new socks.
It's the Undyed Yarn Company's journey sock and the pattern is a freebie from Ravelry called "Little Pumpkins" and that seems appropriate.
And as the theme is orange, let me show you some really, really orange stuff.
I present to you Shalimar Yarn's, "Orange is the New Black."
Yep. It's that orange.
My camera actually adjusted it's settings to add a blue cast to try and balance the brightness.
I find it soothing. The last 2 weeks at work have not only been busy but have also been very unexpected, so coming home to the intensity of this colour has been like eating cake for dinner. Decadent. Comforting. Sweet.
