St. Valentine's Day. This has nothing to do with that.

So I'm surfacing from a month of inpatient work and, like most deep sea divers I know that I can't rise from the depths too quickly or I'll get the bends. Or what I like to think of as exceptionally bad gas.

I was careful to not get up too early this morning and to make sure I had two cups of coffee.
Keeping in mind my fragile, compressed state I wore my softest, fluffiest slippers and wrapped my neck in Stephen West's Geysir Stretch.
As you can never be too careful or gentle with yourself on the first day after a month of inpatient work, I settled into a corner of the sofa and carefully draped a quilt over my legs.
I admired the fire in the grate and stretched tentatively towards the remote…

And pretty much since then I've been curled up watching random podcasts, old episodes of X-Files on Amazon Prime and a brief run of House Hunters International. I will admit that I had to go into work for a meeting at lunchtime but I hurried back to my sofa as soon as it was done.
I have been knitting on this.

The sleeves are driving me crazy.

And the view is this.

If all my careful laziness works, I will have just enough energy to meet my friend Courtney for dinner and a movie. We are celebrating anti-Valentine's day by going to watch Bruce Willis at the local cinema. Yippee ki yay.

I am very jealous. It's been crazy at work ever since I got back from winter break. I'm taking a day off on Monday, but that's only because the toddler's daycare is closed, so it's not really a break.
